A folyamatos innováció és az új géntechnológiák a növénynemesítésben e 60 éve zajló elképesztő hatékonysági boomnak a folytatását ígérik, hogy ugyanakkora területen egyre többet és jobbat sikerüljön termeszteni, kisebb környezeti terheléssel. Így az agrárium végső soron egyre több embert lesz képes ellátni megfizethető élelemmel.

This stems from these same organizations opposing the use of genetically modified crops in Europe. Since GM crops were commercialized in 1995, agricultural production has increased by 7% in Europe where GM crops are banned in all but Spain and Portugal; in the USA, where GM crops are widely adopted, it has increased by 38%.
Innovation is fully capable of safely contributing to increased sustainability, as has been widely proven over the past 60 years of increased food production, with only minimal increases in land use. Science, products, and technologies can contribute to improved environmental sustainability, reduced food insecurity, and greater farmer profitability. The question that society needs to ask is not, will you willingly live a less affluent lifestyle, but rather, will you allow innovation to live up to its full potential, free of political interference?”
